Fear and Faith: Women’s Voices of World War II

Tuesday, July 28, 2026
Guided gallery tour at 3:00 PM
Opera performance at 3:30 PM

This event begins with the guided tour “Listen to the Women at the Window,” exploring the role and status of women in the ancient Near East through biblical heroines and rare archaeological discoveries.

The program continues in the museum auditorium with an opera performance dedicated to women composers whose voices endured despite war and persecution.

Created through the research of soprano Maria Yelich and musicologist Yulia Broido, the program includes works by Ilse Weber, Julia Weisberg, Elsa Barraine, Henriëtte Bosmans, and Rosy Wertheim.

Several compositions will receive their world premiere, performed from manuscripts that survived the war and preserve the legacy of women who continued to create during one of history’s darkest periods.

Regular admission is NIS 60. Admission is NIS 50 for seniors and students and NIS 40 for museum members.
