Beit Avi Hai invites you to a series of fascinating cultural events that will take place this month.

Curator: Amichai Chasson | Assistant Curator: Rika Grinfeld BarneaBeit Avi Chai presents the exhibition “You Must Choose Life – That is Art,” which includes dozens of selected works from the estate of the Israel Prize for Painting-winning artist Pinchas Litvinovsky, one of the founding fathers of Israeli art and a prolific Jerusalem painter, whose works are seeing the light of day for the first time in 30 years. The extensive exhibition spread over the three floors of Beit Avi Chai showcases the varied styles Litvinovsky worked with – from enchanted orientalism through Jewish themes and portraits of elected officials to abstract and diverse color works.Litvinovsky was not part of any artistic group; he rarely exhibited his works and never dated or named them. Apart from portraiture, he usually avoided selling his pieces. After his death, the painter’s estate numbered over 6,000 works, held in his studio in Jerusalem. However, the estate encountered various hardships over the years, culminating in a terrible destruction by the painter’s grandson, which reduced the thousands of works to only a few hundred. The exhibition “You Must Choose Life – That is Art” highlights the best of the remaining pieces, showcasing various playful, sensual, and spiritual artistic facets of Pinchas Litvinovsky’s legacy.The exhibition will feature an interactive stand, “Make yourself a Litvinovsky AI portrait,” where visitors can create their own Litvinovsky-style portrait using AI (Design: Alon Chitayat, software development: Avinoam Cooper).

One of the museum's most striking features is the 1,000-seat outdoor amphitheater, surrounded by a Second Temple period aqueduct originally built by King Herod. In the center of the amphitheater stands a low stage, from which a screen and speakers rise as if by magic at the touch of a button.

Join a contemporary and moving tour of two fascinating exhibitions on display at the Museum of Tolerance: "06:29 - From Darkness to Light" and "Documenting Israel: Visions of 75 Years."

The exhibition is both a direct continuation of the Museum's permanent exhibition, “06:29 – From Darkness to Light” which shares the testimonies of 35 courageous women who survived the horrors of October 7th and also reflects the beginning of love and renewal.The couples photographed form a mosaic of young and old, IDF soldiers, new immigrants, a formerly religious Jew, injured and widowed. Their stories begin with a chance meeting in the lobby of a retirement home, a late-night conversation in a tank, a cigarette on the battlefield, a harrowing encounter in a safe room in the Gaza envelope with a terrorist. The exhibition features two portraits of each couple: The first captures the pain they experienced, while the second reflects their choice of love.During the photography sessions, the couples spoke openly and candidly about the blessing of finding love in difficult times. They expressed a sense of mission in sharing their stories and hoped to instill a spirit of inspiration and optimism in all of us.
